Our Foundation students have been excitedly working away on these fantastic Van Gogh ‘Sunflowers’ inspired mixed media ‘masterpieces’.
The entire project was created in three lessons, and embodies various learned and newly developed artistic skills and techniques; paper collage, crayon/water colour resist, acrylic painting and finished with a simple printmaking process.
All students were understandably thrilled with their ‘masterpieces’ and especially proud of their own abilities when it came to painting their sunflowers (after a technique demonstration).
The success of this project came down to breaking the artwork up into a step by step process whilst instructing the use of line, pattern, shape, balance and composition. We then merged all elements, principles, techniques and processes together resulting in our stunning finished works.
I’m sure you will agree that our Foundation students are on a path to very promising creative futures should they wish.
