Birrarung Ramblings

As part of our Inquiry unit, Birrarung Ramblings, our Grade 2 students visited the Koorie Heritage Trust and for the Birrarung Wilam Walk and the Ian Potter Gallery for a Connect session on Indigenous Art.

A great day was had by all and the Grade 2 team greatly appreciated the assistance of all the parent helpers who came along to help out. Some of the highlights included discovering the wonders of the natural candy, provided by a generous Australian bug, that Indigenous children and hunters eat for a sugar hit. Who knew that candy grew on trees? We didn’t.

The Grade 2 team were also very proud to receive some positive feedback from the Koorie Heritage Trust on the Grade 2 students. They were very impressed with the impromptu rendition of ‘Bunjil the Eagle’ from our students.

‘I hope your groups enjoyed their walks with us today. The feedback from Tim and Donna was that they were some of the best students we’ve had. A pleasure! And the song too, what a lovely way to break up a morning in front of the computer!
