Cyber Safety Reminder

Dear parents and guardians,

Please take a moment to read the information below regarding the safe and proper use of ICT resources in the classroom and at home.
While the school restricts which sites students can and cannot access on our network, their internet access is NOT restricted when they are at home. We advise contacting your internet service provider, to discuss the process for establishing limitations for your child on your home network (such as a ‘nanny net’). Please be aware that restrictions are never comprehensive, so it is highly recommended that students be supervised when accessing the internet.

Students must abide by the Toorak Primary School Code of Practice when logged into any school account or network. Some key elements of the code are:

  • Students should always have the permission of a parent or teacher before sending emails or posting messages online.
  • Students are only permitted to access the email account established for them by the school.
  • Students must ensure that the language they use online is appropriate and promotes the values of a Toorak Primary School citizen.

The internet is a valuable resource in the classroom, allowing access to rich learning tools and opportunities to develop ourselves as global citizens. However, should students breach the Code of Practice, parents will be informed of the breach and access to Google Apps for Education will be suspended.

We hope his information will help us work together to maintain a culture of safe and respectful internet use.
