District Athletics Carnival

A fabulous day was had at Duncan McKinnon Reserve for our District athletics carnival on Wednesday 8 August. Toorak Primary School sent 44 of our strongest athletes from grades 3-6 who competed against 10 schools in our district.  Toorak did exceptionally well this year, qualifying for a staggering 25 individual events and three relay teams. We had a student progress to the next level in every event! This means they will compete at the next level of competition at Lakeside Stadium on Friday September 7.

Congratulations to Angelica, Ella, Hugo and Nathan who all got first place in high jump. Congratulations to Tom, Ferg and Kaaya who got first or second in long and triple jump (Tom did well in both jumps!) Well done to Ava, Sophia, Felix, Polly and Emma who did exceptionally well in discus and shot put, with Felix setting a new district record and beating his own personal best by more than 80 centimetres. Ruby, Charlie F and Mak all came first in their heats in the 100m sprints. Angelica, Emma and Charlie F also did well in the track events, coming first in the 200m sprint. Kaaya and Mak came first in their heats/overall in the 80m hurdles. Lily and Pia came first and second in the 800m and Mak and Charlie F both got second in the 800m event.
