Our Foundation students have learnt about many text types this year. Many Foundation parents have expressed astonishment that their children are currently finding examples of alliteration in their readers and are talking about onomatopoeia!
Free choice writing is popular, as students now know how to write a variety of genres and can select at whim. Here are some recent samples independently written by some of our talented authors in Foundation A.
Jessica, who spoke little English at the start of 2015, wrote this beautiful colour poem:
Green is the Christmas tree
Red is the rose
Yellow is the banana
Black is the rat
Brown is the coffee
White is the clouds
Blue is the beautiful sky.
Daniel chose to write a recount about his exciting weekend:
On the weekend I went to Liam’s party. It was fun. I did games like a shooting game and finding lollies and guessing rooms. You can lose and you can win. At the end I ate a cake. A good!!!!! cake. And I got a trophy. It was great, so great. It was a Star Wars trophy.
Eugenia wrote this wonderfully seasonal Acrostic Poem about Santa:
Santa really loves his candies
A candy cane he really loves
North Pole he lives
Toys he gives
Apples he eats
As always, as the year comes to a close, we marvel at the growth we have had the privilege to witness and foster in our youngest students. We congratulate them all for their efforts, wish them every success in future years and will watch their progress with interest.
