Welcome all parents and students to Grade 2 for 2019.
We have had a great start to the year with students settling nicely into new rooms and routines.
In literacy, the students are starting a writing unit on narrative texts with a focus on structuring exciting stories. In reading, students have set up class libraries and refreshed on how to choose just right books.
Students, in mathematics, are exploring place value with lots of fun games and activities. Maths groups will start in week 4 to give students differentiated learning.
In inquiry, we are starting a large unit on Australian native mammals and reptiles. Students are beginning to investigate the differences between mammals and reptiles. We are all very excited for our first incursion of the year with Lizzy’s Lizards on the 12th of February.
Reminders:
- Welcome Picnic is on the 13th of February, make sure you come and say ‘hi’ to your new classroom teacher
- We will have fruit snack every morning (10:25-10:35), please make sure your children have either a fruit or vegetable snack to eat
- Please make sure all jumpers and school hats have names clearly marked.
