Head lice is not nice!

One thing we can all unanimously agree on is that we all hate lice! It’s frustrating, annoying and time consuming…and even if you don’t have lice, just the thought of it makes you feel like you’re crawling with them!

It’s one of those things that can be pretty persistent at primary schools, so we have to work together to really get on top of it. We’ve had a number of confirmed cases this year, so just wanting to remind everyone to regularly check your children’s hair.

Some important notes:

Children are not allowed at school with live lice. Aside from being very uncomfortable for them, it leaves a wide open opportunity for further infestation to spread.

Children must stay at home until the lice have been properly treated.

These days there are lice clinics you can attend to have treatment and removal of eggs if you don’t want to do it yourself.

You must alert the school if your child does have lice and we will send a note home to the year level to ensure all children are checked and treated when necessary.

Please ensure your child’s hair is tied back.

Regularly check your child’s hair – catching them early is much easier to deal with :)

It happens to us all and probably not possible to eradicate completely but by working together and staying on top of it we can at the very least minimise the incidence of head lice.
