The Toorak Primary School garden provides space for many experiences in nature ranging from play, exercise and socialization to learning in maths, science and environmental education. Grade 3 and 4 are currently performing a ‘health check’ of our garden in order to obtain an intimate understanding of ‘healthy soil’ as a foundation for the successful growing of healthy vegetables for healthy people. The research tasks and hands on approach is creating great enthusiasm amongst our gardeners and is helping to lay the foundations for becoming future sustainable citizens at school and at home.
