Dear Parents/Guardians,
This Friday (19th August – Week 6), all the students in the school will be participating in a Maths Olympic day. The students are encouraged to dress in the colours of the country they are representing e.g. Australia – green & gold, New Zealand – black & white. At the beginning of the day immediately following assembly, there will be an ‘opening ceremony’ where students will share the colours of the country their class is representing and listen to a shortened version of the national anthem. There will also be an Olympic torch relay. Throughout the day, students will then participate in outdoor (weather dependent) and indoor Maths activities linked to the Olympic games. At the end of the day, there will be a ‘closing ceremony’ where medals will be awarded to the most successful classes in the various Maths challenges they will compete in.
