Merry Christmas from the Vice Principal

Dear Parents,

As we come to the end of yet another productive year at TPS I would like to wish you all a very safe and Happy Christmas. Next year our school will continue to work on embedding our current practices to ensure all children achieve their very best in all aspects of the Victorian Curriculum.

Future directions will include building teacher capacity to effectively differentiate teaching for all students in reading, writing and mathematics. Teachers will be expected to demonstrate an understanding of each students’ needs and strengths through the use of individual student learning goals. The use of explicit teaching linked to the HITS (High Impact Teaching Strategies) will support improved student  learning outcomes across the curriculum. Toorak Primary School will also continue to use a range of assessment tools to triangulate data and track student progress.

Our Annual Improvement Plan for 2018 was recently endorsed by our Senior Education Improvement Leader, Stuart Andrews and our School Council President, Michelle Osborne. This document will soon be available on the TPS website for your information.

Next year we will be growing to 25 classes. To ensure all children receive specialist learning on a weekly basis we will be trialling 45 minute learning blocks. Please note that recess will be from 10:30-11am and lunchtime will be 1:15pm-2:15pm.

I look forward to seeing you all on the 30th of January when school resumes for students.

Mrs Tracy Skiba

Assistant Principal
