Naplan May 11 to 13

NAPLAN assessments for year 3 and 5 students at TPS will resume this year after a pause in 2020 due to COVID-19.
The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is an annual assessment for students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9.

The assessments are undertaken nationwide, every year, in the second full week in May. This year the NAPLAN will be conducted over 3 days from May 11 – 13.

NAPLAN is made up of tests in the four areas (or ‘domains’) of:

  • reading
  • writing
  • language conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation)
  • numeracy.

Parents or carers may withdraw their child from the tests to address issues such as religious beliefs and philosophical objections to testing. It is recommended that withdrawal be considered in consultation with your child’s school. Please make time to speak to your child’s teacher or one of the Learning Specialists (Mrs Sheehan or Mrs Dzaferovic) should this be the case for your child.
If you intend to withdraw your child from NAPLAN assessments,  formal notification in writing must be received by the school principal by COB Friday 7th May.

Wherever possible, schools will organise for individual students who are absent at the time of testing to complete missed tests at another time during the test window.
