Numeracy (Mathematics)
Our school has a comprehensive and strategic mathematics program that enables successful mathematics achievement from Prep to Year 6.
We provide students with the skills to:
• Demonstrate useful strategies for successful general functioning in society.
• See connections and be able to apply mathematical concepts, skills and processes when solving problems.
• Be confident in their knowledge of mathematics and to acquire new knowledge and skills when needed.
• Be empowered through knowledge of mathematics as a numerate citizen.
The features of the Early Years and Middle Years Numeracy Programs include:
• A daily one hour numeracy block.
• Whole class and small group teaching.
• Grouping students for effective instruction.
• Powerful teaching strategies.
• Additional assistance for students requiring extra support.
• Continuous monitoring and assessment.
