Parent Teacher Interviews and Progress Reports

The new progress reports and parent/teacher interviews are due to occur.  These interviews will be conducted before and after school from Monday 24th – Thursday 27th June, with a late night on Wednesday 26th.  Booking will be opened on Wednesday 12th June at 4’clock. Please click here for Compass booking instructions http://www.toorakps.vic.edu.au/wp-content/uploads/Parent-Teacher-Interview-handy-hints-2.pdf. The reports will be available on Compass on Friday 21st June.

These new progress reports are designed to be read on a device and they are a quick visual glance of your child’s progress in term 1, 2 and 3.

Furthermore, from term 3 parents and cares will be able to able to see progress from the previous progress report. There will still be a full end of year report in term 4.

The reports will show:

  • subject area graphs of achievement in line with the Victorian Curriculum
  • a graph indicating your child’s behaviour, effort and displaying school values at school
  • a key to explain scales and colour codes for each subject area

The reports can be viewed on Compass or printed as a PDF, however, they are meant to be viewed online. The drop down menu will allow viewers to visit different subject areas.

In addition, the parent/teacher interviews have been extended from 10 minutes to 15 minutes.  This will allow time for the teacher to elaborate on your child’s achievement and discuss their current learning goals. (A hard copy of your child’s learning goals and their personal comment will be given out at the interview.)

To promote engagement, these are some questions we would like you to consider.

  • What dreams and aspirations do you have for your child this year?
  • What success has your child shared about their learning at school?
  • What wonderings do you have around their learning?
