Principal message

The 2017 Annual Report to the School Community has been completed and will be available on the school website.  The Toorak Primary School Community Night where the Annual Report will be presented is scheduled for May 9th in the School Hall commencing at 6.30.  Nathan Chisolm, newly appointed principal of Pranhran High will briefly introduce himself and share current information regarding the new school. Martine Oglethorpe author of The Modern Art Of Parenting will share her understandings of challenges and concerns that families face in the ever changing digital world. We look forward to seeing as many school community members as possible at tomorrow’s gathering.

Government schools undertake a review every four years. Our school review will take place in term four this year. The school review is an exciting opportunity to celebrate the school’s achievements over the past four years and to determine the future direction for the next four year period. Students, parents and teaching staff will have an integral role in the School Self-Evaluation process which will begin in term three.

NAPLAN (National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy) will take place for years 3 and 5 students next Tuesday 15, Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17. While there is an expectation that all students are well nourished and rested at all times, it is vitally important during testing periods, if children are to achieve their potential. Thank you in anticipation for your support in this regard.

Lynda Ross, Office Administrator at Toorak Primary School, will be leaving us at the end of the week. Lynda has been offered employment at a school in her local area. She will be ten minutes from home. While we will miss Lynda’s enthusiastic, engaging personality and her commitment to the Toorak Primary School community, we wish her every success in her new role. The new office staff member will be introduced to the community as soon as an appointment is made. All the best Lynda and thank you for your support over the past two years.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all mothers, grandmothers and special women in our children’s lives, a very Happy Mother’s Day for Sunday May 13th.
