Principal Message

Unfortunately our weekly assembly was cancelled this morning due to inclement weather.

With the new year pending, please be advised that special requests for 2019 classes will be accepted until 4.30 on Friday November 9th. All requests will be considered but not guaranteed.

The biennial art show will be held in the week beginning November 19th. The opening will take place in the assembly area on Wednesday evening with students visiting the displays throughout the school day. Mrs Ring and Mrs Tate along with our very artistic students have worked tirelessly to ensure the most creative pieces of work will be on display.

Prep – Year 2 swimming classes have seen considerable improvement since Miss White contacted the Swim School. Thank you  to those members of the community who provided feedback to Miss White around their concerns.

What a successful night the Fashion Parade was. The women of the Toorak Primary School Community enjoyed a fun filled night, raising approximately $10,000 for the school. Funds will support the installation of ungraded sound system to be used at weekly assemblies. A special message of thanks is extended to Kylie Colville and her band of willing volunteers who are now masters of organising this event. The team lead by Kylie Colville consisted of Sarah Smyth, Tracy Stratton, Martina Egan, Janet Handbury, Prue Todd, Mary-Jane Clarke, Katie Waters, Jelena Markovic, Dominique Hunter, Kate Mcintosh, Michelle Osborne, Sallie Hill, Jane Farago, Soraya Nasseri, Anna Krincevski and Mandy Drury.

The School Review which takes place in Government Schools every four years, is now complete. The final School Strategic Plan for the next four years will be presented to the school in the coming weeks. The school review panel spoke in glowing terms of the achievements of this school. In comparison to similar schools and network schools, our results are very good. It is with great excitement and enthusiasm, we look forward to addressing the goals and targets outlined over the next four years. The SSP document will be place on the website in the coming weeks.

Last Thursday, the first of three foundation transition sessions took place. There will be four foundation classes in 2019. With the new double storey classrooms due for completion in the new year, all students will be adequately accommodated.

I have been informed that the furniture donated to East Timor, arrived safely and was received very enthusiastically. Photos of the arrival will be added to our website. A plaque for the water tank, donated by Toorak Primary School, has also been installed.  Ben Armstong from Rotary, will share photos and news from East Timor at assembly on November 16th.

Enjoy Melbourne Cup Day on Tuesday November 6th!
