Principal Message

Assembly on Friday was a memorable one. The Welcome to Country ceremony, hosted by the Boon Wurrung Foundation left those who attended with many wonderings around our indigenous heritage and history. Elders present provided a stirring account of the indigenous history in our local area. Our school community respectfully participated in the smoking ceremony and shared their acknowledgement of such an appropriate beginning to NIADOC week. Thank you to Catherine Segrave and Jen White for taking time to organise such a special assembly

As the term draws to a close, teachers have been preparing student progress reports. Reporting to parents has changed this year to provide more meaningful information for families about students progress. Next week all families have been encouraged to book an interview with their child’s teacher, to celebrate the learning that has taken place and also to plan pathways for the second half of the year.

Curriculum Day to be held on Friday June 21st, will provide all staff, training in managing students who exhibit challenging behaviours. The program is designed to provide staff with a planned response when they require assistance with applying evasive skills, simple management strategies to increase staff awareness and confidence in dealing with a violent/aggressive situation.  The Department of Education expects that all staff know how to protect themselves and their students when required.
