Principal Message

Fortunately, the weather was once again kind to us as the annual “Welcome Picnic” took place last night. Viewing from the balcony, all in attendance seemed to be enjoying the company of each other. Thank you to the German families for contributing with a very popular pretzel stall. Michelle Osborne, supported by a team of volunteers, organised the activities for the evening while teaching staff enthusiastically cooked and sold 200 sausages. Thanks to all involved.

On Monday our year six students leave for a five day Educational Tour to Canberra. This particular excursion supports the senior school curriculum with a host of attractions including Parliament House, National Library of Australia, Questacon, Government House and the High Court of Australia. We look forward to their safe return on Friday March 2nd.

For the first time at Toorak Primary School, there will be an election to determine School Council members for 2018, since the number of nominees out number the current vacancies. Ballot papers will be sent home with every student today. Please complete the ballot papers and return to school by 4.00pm on Friday March 2nd. Successful candidates will be notified when counting is completed. The first School Council meeting will be held on March 6th at 7.oopm in the staffroom for the successful candidates. I look forward to working with the 2018 School Council to achieve the best possible outcomes for our students and their families.

Thank you to all school community members who have been travelling one way south along Fairbairn Road at drop off and pick up times. It seems to be having a positive impact. I will also ask Brookville Kindergarten to support the same action to relieve congestion around the area.

Our 2018 foundation students will participate in their very first assembly on Friday March 9th. We look forward to welcoming foundation students and their teachers at all future weekly assemblies.
