Principals Message

I can’t believe that only a few days ago I didn’t have to wake up to the sound of that dreaded alarm clock! Now I’m back at work and what a whirlwind of a few days it has been.  Thought this would be the perfect time to hijack the blog and introduce myself to everyone.

The start to Term 3 has been very different for me.  For the past twelve months I have been the Acting Principal at Kingston Heath Primary School and prior to that I spent five years at Middle Park Primary School as the Assistant Principal, and knew a majority of the school community…..now I’m the new kid on the block; surrounded by strangers, lots of people’s names to learn, finding my way around the school grounds without getting lost, feeling a mixture of nervousness and excitement.  Luckily for me, everyone here at Toorak has been extremely welcoming and already made me feel like part of the community.

Education for me has always been an exciting, stimulating, rewarding and demanding career choice.  The highlight for me is coming to school each day and working with students.  Every day they bring a smile to my face and surprise me with their insight, perception and their wonder.  It is truly an honour to be involved in the lives of these incredible individuals.  I have been lucky enough to have had the opportunity to be involved in some amazing schools, worked with some great people, and I look forward with enthusiasm to the next chapter of my career here at Toorak.

Other than school, my life revolves around family, friends, watching my beloved Hawks play on the weekends, relaxing….and basically just doing things that make me happy J

I would like to invite you all to a “Meet the Principal” morning tea next week on Thursday (July 25th) from 10:00 – 11:00am.  If you are free, please pop in a say hello.  Otherwise, make sure you come and introduce yourself to me when you see me around the school.  My office door is always open to students, staff and parents if you have any issues you would like to discuss or even just a casual chat.

Other exciting things happening around the school include:

Parent Opinion Survey

Every year, the Department randomly selects a number of families to complete a Parent Opinion Survey.  The survey provides us with valuable feedback to assist us with future planning and improvements.  If you are one of these lucky parents, you will receive your survey link in the next few weeks.  This survey is completed online and completely confidential.  Your feedback is always appreciated.

Should I stay or should I go?

I know it’s hard to believe but, planning for the 2020 school year is in full swing!  To assist us in making sure we are ready for next year, if you or anyone you know would like to be a part of our school community in 2020, and they are not yet enrolled, could you please make sure enrolment forms are completed and returned to school as soon as possible.

Likewise, if you or anyone you know, intends on not being a part of our school community in 2020, could you please let us know as soon as possible.

That’s it from me this week.  I’m looking forward to working with the community, continuing to make Toorak Primary School the best school it can be.
