TPS First Aid & Well-being Officer

As part of Toorak Primary’s commitment to the well-being of our students and the school community, Sara has been a part of the team over the past 18 months as our First Aid & Well-being Officer.

My role is to support the well-being of the community here at Toorak Primary. I look after the medical alerts and am that point of reference for the parents and students regarding management of any medical conditions that need attention at school. This may be chronic and ongoing conditions such as asthma or anaphylaxis or other specific allergies OR it could be an acute cold or chest infection for example, that requires medication to be administered at school for a short period of time.

As well as this, I have been initiating programs for students, staff and parents to bring a focus to well-being and understanding the importance of our health and feeling good about ourselves. Girl’s Groups & Boy’s Groups have been already underway for smaller focus groups of children; a Grade 5 & 6 health program is being delivered with myself & our PE teacher Jen White; Parent discussion groups were run last year with potential of running again in Term 3 & 4 this year; and a Relax, Restore, Re-connect & Re-charge 4 week optional program has just been completed for our staff.

There is more to come and regular blogs will be posted to keep our parent community updated.

My office is in the sickbay next to the administration office, if you would like to come past and say hello. I’m here Tuesday – Friday 9am – 4pm. A good time to catch me is in the mornings between 9am-11am. Look forward to meeting more of you at some stage. Until then, stay warm!
