Welcome back!

We are excited to welcome you to all back to Toorak PS for the 2020 school year. We look forward to commencing the educational partnership with our new families and strengthening connections already made with our existing families. Throughout this year students will build their capacity to be active learners who are directly involved in constructing their learning. Through this process, students will be challenged to make a positive impact on the world around them whilst also demonstrating kindness and understanding within our learning community.

At the start of the year, some students might experience times of uncertainty and possible anxiety over whether they’ll make friends, who should I play with etc. We all want the students to be successful in their schooling and through periods of transition. It is worth reflecting, similar to when they were learning to ride a bike, at times, it is important to let the bike wobble. This is important to foster independence, build resilience and empower your child to ultimately be successful.

A Reminder that Learning starts at 9am

Did you know that a student who is half an hour late each day misses the equivalent of 16.6 days of learning each year? Imagine what they miss during that time.

We are all human. Cars can beak down and unexpected situations can occur. We know that family morning routines are not always straightforward. If you are experiencing problems, speak to us, as we may be able to offer suggestions to help.

We are happy to accept that students will be late on the odd occasion because of unforeseen circumstances. However, arriving late on a regular basis is not acceptable.

I look forward to seeing you all at the welcome picnic this afternoon.
