Yr 3/4 Hoop Time

Electricity was in the air on Tuesday (01/08) as our Year 3 and 4 students showcased their athletic talent at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre. It was a day of non-stop action, with 15 teams representing Toorak PS in a mix of round robin and friendly competitions. From the bias-free position of the Year 3/4 teachers it was clear that we have some exceptionally talented basketballers within our cohort. Even more impressive was the sportsmanship shown by all competitors, which reflected the inclusive and congenial atmosphere of the day.

Our reporters gathered the following comments from the athletes…

“I’d been waiting for Hoop Time for weeks and I’m so proud as my team won every game and we’ve made it into Regionals. We scored 24-2 in the Grand Final! It was a challenging day but heaps of fun! Altogether our team scored over 100 points.” – Izabela, Toorak All Star (girls)

“At Hoop Time I was in the boys’ All Star team with some grade 3s and grade 4s. Our team went pretty good. Our first game we lost and we decided we needed to work on our defense. So our next game, of course we remembered to work hard to defend. We won that game! Unfortunately we lost in the semi finals. So at the end of the day we won 4, lost 2 and had a lot of fun!” – Brody, Toorak All Star (boys)

“At Hoop Time I enjoyed playing basketball with my teammates. They were really supportive. Some teams were challenging but we found that by playing as a team we could together and have fun.” – Atara, Toorak Taipans
