ANZAC Assembly

Congratulations to the Grade 6 Captains and Miss Macaulay for putting together a respectful and thought-provoking ANZAC Assembly. The school community was very grateful for veteran and past Toorak parent, Drew Horsell, for sharing his reflections on Gallipoli and the story of Simpson and his Donkey.

After the assembly, Grade 5 and 6 students were lucky to hear more from Mr Horsell on the protocols of flag raising and about the symbolism of the Australian National flag. Did you know that the top left corner of the flag is called the Canton and is the most significant part of the flag? This means that if the flag is hung vertically, it needs to be reversed so that the Union Jack needs to remain in the top left corner.
