Grade 4 Incursion

Last Friday the Grade 4’s participated in a dramatic incursion linking to our inquiry topic of the First Fleet. Students showed great engagement, with many having a role in the play which they portrayed with energy and enthusiasm.

Here are some of the students comments about the day:

I loved the incursion because it was really funny and I enjoyed the play. Sergeant was my favourite character because when he asked a question you had to reply yes or no Sergeant. My least favourite character was James Murphy; he had an annoying accent and he was a chatterbox. Remy Hunter 4A

I loved the first fleet incursion because it was funny and they brought up volunteers. When I was with James I was Captain of the Scarborough but then Smelly Jones (Kieran 4B) took my position! I was also called ‘bright’ when I was being offered as a bride. I enjoyed this incursion and wish for more like it! Jaime Foyn 4A

I loved the instructor’s because they were very funny, they were good actor’s and I loved their accents. It was the best INCURSION EVER! Claire Stanway 4A

I learnt that on the ships, it was really horrible and bad. I liked how James almost got a flogging. I learnt about the weapons they used in the American Independence War. I also learned about the Irish dancing. I loved the day, including being Smelly Jones and I liked Arthur Philip. Kieran Pham-Curtis 4B
