Our school has a comprehensive and strategic mathematics program that enables successful mathematics achievement from Foundation to Year 6.
We provide students with the skills to:
- demonstrate useful strategies for successful general functioning in society
- see connections and be able to apply mathematical concepts, skills and processes when solving problems
- be confident in their knowledge of mathematics and to acquire new knowledge and skills when needed
- be empowered through knowledge of mathematics as a numerate citizens
The features of the Mathematics Program include:
- a daily one hour mathematics block
- whole class and small group teaching based on students needs
- grouping students for effective instruction in number
- powerful teaching strategies including developing problem solving skills and students multiplicative thinking
- additional assistance for students requiring extra support
- extension groups for high achieving students
- integrated ICT resources such as Mathletics, iPads and Interactive Whiteboards Programmes
- students self assessment for target setting
- continuous monitoring and assessment including using online Department of Education and Early Childhood Development software
