Mathematics

Our school has a comprehensive and strategic mathematics program that enables successful mathematics achievement from Foundation to Year 6.
We provide students with the skills to:

  • demonstrate useful strategies for successful general functioning in society
  • see connections and be able to apply mathematical concepts, skills and processes when solving problems
  • be confident in their knowledge of mathematics and to acquire new knowledge and skills when needed
  • be empowered through knowledge of mathematics as a numerate citizens

The features of the Mathematics Program include:

  • a daily one hour mathematics block
  • whole class and small group teaching based on students needs
  • grouping students for effective instruction in number
  • powerful teaching strategies including developing problem solving skills and students multiplicative thinking
  • additional assistance for students requiring extra support
  • extension groups for high achieving students
  • integrated ICT resources such as Mathletics, iPads and Interactive Whiteboards Programmes
  • students self assessment for target setting
  • continuous monitoring and assessment including using online Department of Education and Early Childhood Development software
