At Toorak Primary School, our music program transcends traditional classroom learning, offering students enriching opportunities that cultivate a lifelong love for music and the arts.
Guided by a curriculum rooted in Orff, Kodaly, and performance techniques, students embark on a comprehensive musical journey throughout their primary school experience
Our students are equipped with a diverse skill set. Singing is integrated across all year levels, fostering vocal proficiency and ensemble cohesion. Additionally, our curriculum delves into music notation, various styles, and cultural influences, providing a well-rounded musical education.
Our Classroom Curriculum includes the following areas:
- Foundation and Year 1 learn the basics elements of music and apply these to percussion instruments
- Year 2 learn to play the recorder and percussion instruments
- Year 3 learn to play the Ukulele,drums and the Violin Vioia and Cello
- Year 4 continue to expand their knowledge of ukulele, percussion and string instruments
- Year 5 continue to expand their knowledge of musical instruments learnt.
- Year 6 develop their skills in classroom ensemble activities and battle it out in the exhilarating “Battle of the Bands” competition.
