Stonnington Library Book Week 2020

Hello, My name is Jack and I’m the Youth Services Librarian at Stonnington Libraries. I’m writing to you to tell you what we have going on at Stonnington Libraries for Book Week. Established in 1945, the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) “is a not-for-profit, volunteer run organisation which aims to engage the community with literature for young Australians.

The CBCA presents annual awards to books of literary merit, for outstanding contribution to Australian children’s literature and runs Book Week, which this year is the 17-23 October. Below are some resources you may find useful for Book Week.

Access a range of resources for shortlisted titles at the CBCA website, and learnfromplay.com (please note to access resources a free login is required).

Story Box Library has released 11 CBCA-shortlisted titles for viewing and developed four ready-made to use in CBCA Book Week 2020 celebrations! These activities cater for a range of age groups, abilities and interests, and are adaptable for use at home, in the classroom or at the library (Stonnington Library membership required).

We will also have a bunch of extra free book week activities on our website, under our Create, Explore, Play page available here https://www.stonnington.vic.gov.au/Library/Whats-On/Create-Explore-Play-at-HOME/For-Kids

Stonnington Libraries has also organised a free online performance for Book Week by Australian Children’s Comedian Sean Murphy, booking and more information can be found here https://www.stonnington.vic.gov.au/Library/Whats-On/Book-Week-Book-Party

I’ve also attached a few CBCA resources you might find useful.
