Werribee Zoo Recount

(PLEASE DO NOT POST AWAITING PHOTOS)

After Year 2’s visit to Werribee Zoo, our students wrote a recount about their day.

Throughout last week in writing, we worked on adding time connectives and using the correct tense with our verbs. We used these skills in our recounts.

Here is Hannah’s recount of her day –

On Tuesday 14th February 2017 in Week 2, all the Grade 2s ( except the people who were away) travelled to the busy Werribee Zoo.
Firstly we hopped onto the bus. We had a lot of parent helpers; Flip, Debbie, Kasey, Judy and Beata.
When we arrived at the zoo we ate our snacks quickly.  Then we looked at the funny gorillas, the amazing lions and much, much more.
Following that we went into the dark bandicoot hideout.  We saw some nocturnal animals.  We learnt that bandicoots live in grasslands and eat insects.  They are extinct in the wild so we have to look after them in the zoo.
Afterwards we saw some more stupendous animals.
Eventually we had lunch.
Afterwards, when everyone had finished, we ran very quickly to the Safari Bus because we didn’t want to miss the bus.  We saw some grey rhinos, some giraffes close up, striped zebras, one-humped camels, birds and a rare species of crocodile.
Then we drove back to the school.
We all had a big adventure and a fun-filled day.
As you can see we all had a great time at the Zoo, learning about bandicoots habitats and going on ‘Safari’.
