Library

Since its opening in November 2011, our school library has become an important part of  Toorak Primary School’s learning community.

Our students now enjoy the many benefits of a large and up-to-date collection of books catering for all reading interests. We are constantly adding to our collection of beautiful new Picture Books, specializing in our very talented and prolific Australian authors and illustrators. Students are delighted that our shelves are filled with popular series and chapter books and we have a great variety of ‘early chapter books’ which appeal strongly to the emerging independent reader. We have a sizeable collection of Classic Picture Books and novels, new curriculum resources specific to the Ausvels History strand and new Non Fiction books for a variety of Inquiry units.

Our PFA is most supportive in providing new materials especially for the Picture Book collection through their wonderful Pop-Up Shops held during Prep Transition.

The Library is a very flexible learning space – when not in use for Library lessons and class visits, it is home to the Spatzenschule, that really enjoys the space for learning activities and display of students’ work. Brookville Kinder visit regularly and borrow books from our Picture Book collection. The Media Room is timetabled for Digital Literacy, recording of News Bulletins and many class activities.
