Grade 1’s Still Learning!

In this blog post is a celebration of the last few weeks in grade 1. We have been extremely busy experimenting with chemical changes, learning about kindness and having a blast in the kitchen with Mr. Beck!

On Monday we had a visit from our Science expert Max- we made elephant toothpaste and cloud in a bottle.

It was very interesting watching chemicals mix and react to each other!

One of the Toorak Citizenship values is Kindness. Grade ones have been learning all about kindness in the classroom, at home and in the playground. We have chosen to sing and preform Auslan in front of the whole school to show that communication is an important part of kindness.

In sustainability lessons this fortnight, Mr. Beck put the students to work with a manual flour mill to create some delicious pancakes! Students learnt that flour seeds come from grass and each got a turn to crank the mill which required a lot of muscle and coordination. We all got to enjoy some yummy pancakes with organic sugar for our hard work!

We wish all our grade one families a happy and safe break!
