I have received word that the basketball court construction will begin in week one of the school holidays, weather permitting. It should take a week to complete and be ready for our use in Term Three. Several quotes were sought with all suppliers asked to comment on whether or not to level the area. Overwhelmingly, the recommendation was against levelling the court. Reasons included a huge increase in the cost of works and OH&S concerns with retaining walls required at various locations around the area.
This project has only been possible due to the school community’s generosity. Fundraising through the Events, Fundraising and Marketing sub- committee of School Council raised $43,230.38. What a fantastic effort! The extremely proactive basketball community contributed $1915.00 with the remaining amount drawn from the school budget. All in all, it has been a whole school community effort. Well done.
