CELEBRATING THE END OF A BUSY TERM IN YEAR 2

Our Year Level competition for Toorak’s Got Talent was hotly contested, we had fabulous dancing and singing, drum and piano solos and basketball skills on display. Congratulations to all competitors but especially to our year level winners, a combined act from both 2B and 2A comprising Ivy, Tia, Romy, Molly, Georgina, Camilla and Jessica, who sang and danced to the inspiring Fight Song in front of the whole school in the final.

We had a huge turn out to our school Open Night and welcomed many Year 2 parents.  Thank you for your support for this event held to celebrate Literacy and Numeracy Week.

VCOP strategies are now firmly embedded in our curriculum. Recently Etta wrote this amazingly evocative piece about a beach in Big Write. Happily, she agreed to it being published here on our blog page. Enjoy!

The sun burst out of the clouds and sunbeams fell onto the rippling waters of the beach. Seabirds squawked as they flew by. Waves sprayed onto the wet sand. A salty smell drifted to the air from the ocean.

The waves woke me up and I walked out of my beach cabin also I watched the small crowds of people walking by. I stared up at the pale morning sky. I lay down and picked up a shell. I heard the ocean’s shrill cry. In the distance I saw tropical fruit glowing. I ran to pick some. It was delicious. The waves swept the spectacular shells into the calm, blue ocean.

Back at the beach people were swimming. An ice-cream van stopped at the edge of the sand.  People rushed to get ice-creams. Massive trees loomed above the footpath. I walked back to my pristine beach cabin and I got dressed into my tropical beach dress. I put my beach sandals on.  I decided to go and get an ice-cream. As I walked I heard the crashing ocean again. I threw a lost ball to someone.

Attached are a few extra photos from this term’s colourful excursion to Taskworks, where Year 2 students learned the importance of working collaboratively in teams to achieve their goals.
