Everybody wants to visit Paris! Why?

This blog is about a question the Grade five and six have been asked to reflect upon, during their inquiry topic in French this semester.  To further their knowledge students have chosen one of the 44 popular sites in Paris to research. In addition, they used their own voice in expressing, and writing about what they discover. The expression, “Did you know…” will reflect their cultural awareness and self-management of learning, on their journey to uncover some interesting facts.

Did you know that March is Carnaval month in France?  The word- Mardi Gras-literally means “Fat Tuesday”,  its origin being the eating of lots of rich foods prior to the Lenten fasting before Easter Sunday.  Today there are big parades, fireworks and people dress up in masks and costumes, much like our Moomba parade. It is not the risqué parade like some others around the world.

Bonne journée

Madame.
