February Sports Update

3/4 Swimming lessons at KLIM Swim, Richmond
Thank you to all the parents who helped with the grade 3/4 swimming program at Klim Swim in Richmond. We hope to hold the Foundation to Grade 2 swimming lessons at the same venue in term 4.

3-6 House Swimming Carnival, Prahran Pool
Well done to all those students who participated in the House Swimming Carnival at the Prahran Pool last Wednesday. It was a great to see students having a wonderful time at a different location in a safe environment, wearing their new coloured house tops! Students were encouraged to participate in as many events as they felt comfortable. Events included the 50m freestyle or 25m kickboard,  50m breaststroke, 50m backstroke and 50m butterfly. There was also house swims, a novelty underwater treasure hunt event and relays (fastest four students, per age group, per gender based on the 50 metre freestyle heats formed the teams.) There was a number of heats per age group and the quickest time from these heats will participate in the Southport District competition on Wednesday 27 February at the Prahran Pool. Well done to the house captains who created new house chants for the House Swimming Carnival and organised sessions with their houses to rehearse! Thanks to all the parents who attended and the teachers and parents who helped with the many roles required to make the day work.

Melbourne Football Club
Five Melbourne Football Club players visited Toorak PS on Thursday 14 February. They included Jeff Garlett, Alex Neal-Bullen, Jay Kennedy-Harris, Christian Petracca and a new recruit James. The Players ran a leadership session with our 5/6 leaders where they discussed their views on leadership and the importance of communication. Students were free to ask questions at the completion of their interactive session. They then ran four activity stations outside for a slightly larger group of grade 4-6 students. Thank you to the MFC!
