Grade 3 News

The last fortnight has been incredibly busy for the Grade 3’s!

In Reading, students focused on the CAFÉ model where they examined the various comprehension, accuracy, fluency and expanding vocabulary strategies through modelled texts, and then also explored how authors develop their ideas. In Writing, students explored the VCOP model where students used picture stimulus’ to develop interesting vocabulary, connectives, sentence openers and punctuation, and then also focused on the 6 +1 writing trait of developing ideas and building word choice where students went on a topic hunt around the school. In Numeracy, students have been focusing on developing their problem solving and reasoning skills through our place value unit.

In Wellbeing, we had a ‘Mind and Body’ incursion last Thursday from Supreme Incursions. The students left this incursion having a greater understanding of how to regulate emotions through breathing techniques and how to improve concentration and energy levels through a range of activities such as yoga.

Last week, the students also had their first Swimming Carnival at TPS! They were very excited to represent their houses, and very eager to participate. The students were very exhausted by the end of a very fun filled day!
