Grade 6 Excursion to Canberra

As part of our Inquiry Unit ‘Australia as A Nation’ the Grade 6 students are undertaking an educational tour of the national capital.  The students have recently researched and presented information about the three levels of Government and their roles and responsibilities.  This camp gives the students the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a continued focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage and democracy.  It also enables the students to ask questions to experts and to connect what they have read to the actual places and people.

The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part Civics and Citizenship education.  To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.
