Grade Camp Update

canberra 2 canberra 3 CANBERRA 5 canberra1 cnaberra 4On Monday we excitedly set off for Canberra on the bus. It was a long trip however made fun by stops in Euroa, Holbrook and Gundagai.

On Tuesday we saw the beautiful city of Canberra from the top of Mount Anslie.

At the Australian Institute of Sport we met Jarrod, a freestyle swimmer who we’ll excitedly watch (hopefully) qualify for the Olympics on the 9th of April. Jarrod gave us a tour of the AIS and we concluded our tour by trying out some Olympic sport on the interactive games.

Our afternoon was spent in Parliament House where we enjoyed the company of our local Federal Member of Parliament, Kelly O’Dwyer.

We debated some important decisions and had our Bill passed in The House of Representatives with Prime Minister Parker leading the government with the watchful eye of Speaker Ella ensuring things were kept in order. Unfortunately opposition Leader Kezia and her party were unable to sway the cross bench for their votes, and the Bill was moved onto the Senate for further scrutiny. All in all, we had a brilliant day at Parliament.

Our day concluded by paying our respects to the 102,000 fallen soldiers at The War Memorial. In a moving service called The Last Post, we joined other schools and government officials from China and Thailand, in placing a wreath in honour of those who have served our country. Fosco and Jemima did a fantastic job of representing TPS.
