Happy Easter

As I’m sure you are well aware, school concludes today at 2.30 as we begin the term one holidays. This year, Easter is at the end of the holidays. I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Happy Easter and a restful, safe holiday period. We look forward to seeing all student back at school on Tuesday April 18th, ready to begin lessons at 9.00am sharp.

Currently our year six students are enjoying all the attractions that Canberra has to offer. The week in Canberra is always an exciting opportunity for students to further extend their studies outside the classroom, visiting venues such as Parliament House, Questacon, The National Museum of Australia, Institute of Sport, High Court of Australia and The Australian War Memorial just to name a few. We look forward to their safe arrival back at school this afternoon. I would expecially like to thank all staff who willingly offered their time to spend a week in Canberra with our students while being away from their own families. It is much appreciated.

Next term, preparations for the musical, “Peter Pan”will be in full swing.  Already the cast has been announced, much to the pleasure of our senior students. There will be many tasks to organise before the performances are staged on August 30 and 31 at Firbank in Brighton. The musical will be fully integrated into the curriculum to ensure that daily literacy and numeracy lesson time is not compromised. Exciting times ahead for our school community!

As a school community, we have borne immense emotional pain with the loss of Minnie Law. As her daughters Emma and Zahra and husband Steven live their day to day lives without her, our  thoughts are continually with them. On behalf of the Toorak Primary School family, I send our deepest condolences on their tragic loss.

Please travel safely and take of each other over the holiday period.
