New Student Progress Reporting

Dear Parents/Guardians,

To assist in the ongoing growth and development of your child’s learning, Toorak Primary School has developed an easy-to-read interim progress report for Term 1,2 and 3 . These reports are designed to give you an overview of your child’s performance in academic and personal development areas. This can be viewed or downloaded via Compass.

The report will show the students:
• Academic achievement
• Effort
• Behaviour and attitudes
• School values of Friendship, Responsibility, Respect, Kindness and Honesty

The aim is to use these results to recognise the positive behaviours students are showing in the classroom each term, as well as, identifying potential classroom issues so that they can addressed as a matter of priority.

Term 1:
• The report will show progress of Reading, Writing, plus Number and Algebra.
• The reports will be available on Compass on Wednesday 3rd April at 4:00pm.

Term 2:
• The report will show a progression graph for the subjects reported on in Term 1.
• In addition, the teachers will also report on Measurement and Geometry, Speaking and Listening, and Inquiry.
• Furthermore, at the end of term 2 there will be a parent/teacher conference that will focus on the goals linked to students’ progress report.
• Specialist subjects will also be reported on at this time.
• Open invite to discuss new report system with Learning Specialists. Date and time to be arranged.

Term 3:
• The teachers will report on all areas of Literacy and Numeracy so that parents can see the continued growth of their child over each term.

Term 4:
• All parents will receive an end of year report that will show the students end of year assessment data, teacher comments and student reflections as in previous years.

Further details, about how the report will look, will be available next week.

If you have any questions or concerns, we encourage you to attend our parent/teacher conferences in Term 2 or send us an email to toorak.ps@edumail.vic.edu.au.

Kind regards,
Sharon Lomas and Leah French
