GRADE 3-6 HOUSE SWIMMING CARNIVAL
A wonderful day was had at the House Swimming Carnival at Prahran Pool on Monday February 19. A big thank you to all the grade 3-6 staff and parents who contributed in various ways and volunteered their time to help with the running of the day. A big thank you to the house captains who did a wonderful job with their houses on the day and to Mrs Milligan who organised the chants, Mr Mooney transported the BBQs and other equipment in his ute, Sarah who helped with set up, Mr Bender did an excellent job with the starter gun, Kerie and Stuart ran the marshalling, Ms Lomas and Cathy organised the BBQ, Annie, Christiane and Debbie coordinated the recording and results, Mr Golden did a great job with the time keeping, Ms Parkes and Ms Robinson coordinated the judging and the student team did a great job coordinating the returning of equipment. Apologies to anyone I’ve missed mentioning. Thank you to all the parents and teachers on the day. It was great to have so many parents attend to watch.

DISTRICT SWIMMING
District swimming was help on Wednesday February 28. Thank you to Kerie Agnew and Miss Brown who accompanied the students. Well done to all participants including Felix and Charlie who qualified for the Zone competition on March 9. Felix competed in the 50m under 9/10 boys breastroke and came 4th and Charlie competed in the 50m under 9/10 boys backstoke and also came 4th. Well done to Felix and Charlie, who were both delighted that they made it to zone and received a ribbon!

ZONE SWIMMING
Because of the clash with the grade 6 Canberra camp, we were in a position for some grade 6 students to participate at zone. Well done to the girls under 12/13 4x50m freestyle relay which included Lilly, Eloise, Emma and Pia, they came 13th. Alex, Seb, Matt and Lee represented in the 4x50m freestyle relay and came 4th. Emma swam in the under 12/13 50m freestyle and butterfly events, Alex swam in the boys 12/13 backstroke and came 3rd and he also competed in the butterfly event where he came a close 2nd by only .02 of a second! Annabelle competed in the under 12/13 50m breaststroke and came 11th. Thanks to Emma Stone for helping with the process.

HOCKEY CLINIC
A couple of weeks ago we had Hockey Victoria provide a clinic to a number of grade 4,5 and 6 classes across the day, please see photos below. If your child is interested in playing hockey competitively I have some details for local clubs.

VISIT TO THE AUSTRALIAN INSTITUTE OF SPORT (AIS) CANBERRA
The Canberra camp included a tour and gave the grade 6 students insight into the training facilities of the AIS. Please see some photos below.

SPORTING SCHOOLS VICTORIA
Good luck to Tom, Sam, Daniel, Josie and Jayziah who will participate for potential state selection in sports including footy, soccer and basketball.

PREP-2 AND 3-6 HOUSE CROSS COUNTRY
The 3-6 house cross country competition will be held in either week three or four of term 2 at Orong Park. Students who run various lengths, between 1 kilometre – 3 kilometres depending on age group. Now is a great time to begin training in the lead up to the event! There will also be a grownups race (parents and teachers) so I hope you are all in training! Distance of that race is to be confirmed.

PREMIER’S ACTIVE APRIL

The Premier’s Active April encourages all Victorians to do 30 minutes of physical activity a day during April. It’s part of the Victorian Government’s commitment to get more people active and healthy.

Register and log your daily activity in the mobile or web app and chart your progress throughout the month. You can also create and join teams and track the progress of team members. As a reward, each participant receives 10 free passes to a participating YMCA or local government recreation facility and access to many 2 for 1 deals to venues and events such as the Otway Fly Treetop Adventures, The Melbourne Aquarium and Legoland. COLES SPORT FOR SCHOOLS
TPS is collecting Coles Sport for Schools vouchers, and will do so until April. Please hand any vouchers to the office.

5/6 CRICKET GALA DAY
The grade 5/6 students will participate in their first gala on Friday March 23.
