Stonnington Library Fun Online Activities

I’m Jack and I’m the Youth Services Librarian at Stonnington Libraries. I’m writing to let you know that here at Stonnington Libraries we have a whole bunch of fun, free, online activities for kids.

We’ve got our September School Holiday program which includes craft activities, drawing workshops, science workshops, and zoo keeper talks. Which can be booked into here

We’ve also made a Pirate themed Virtual Escape room where you must outwit a dastardly pirate crew by solving logic, maths, and word based riddles which is available by following this link

Pirate Escape Room Welcome to the Stonnington Libraries Virtual Escape Room. Get ready for a piratical adventure on the high seas full of swashbucklers, pieces of eight and dastardly buccaneer riddles. This Virtual Escape Room was created by Bria, Nick, and Jack at Stonnington Libraries. There are hints included, but if you get really stuck contact us on our social media, or send an email to libraryevents@stonnington.vic.gov.au and we can help you out. docs.google.com

We’ve also put together step-by-step instructions for a few projects that will provide kids with a basic overview of the Scratch coding program, show you some basics, and most importantly show kids how to make something cool to show off. The instructions can be found here https://www.stonnington.vic.gov.au/Library/Whats-On/Create-Explore-Play-at-HOME/For-Kids

The same page also has a collated list of fun, free, online activities from different institutions, presenters, and created by us at Stonnington Libraries, these include weekly challenges and virtual classes and talks. There is a similar page for adults/older kids here https://www.stonnington.vic.gov.au/Library/Whats-On/Create-Explore-Play-at-HOME/For-Adults

While we are closed we still have all our eResources available they can be accessed here for younger children specific resources https://www.stonnington.vic.gov.au/Library/eLibrary/Kids-eLibrary

Or here for older students https://www.stonnington.vic.gov.au/Library/eLibrary

If you have any questions let me know. I hope you are safe and well

Cheers Jack
