On Monday the Year 5 students went on an excursion to the Chinese museum as an introduction to our unit of work on the Victorian Gold Rush.
Students were treated to a fantastic day with very knowledgeable guides taking us through the life of a Chinese migrant making their way from their homeland to the fields of Victoria. Students were led through reconstructions of important buildings in the life of a gold miner.
Our students were able to get an excellent foundation of knowledge to build on as we further examine how the Gold Rush affected many aspects of colonisation and lasting impacts on Australian society.
