How will TPS communicate my child’s progress?

At Toorak Primary School, reporting of student’s academic achievement, as well as personal and social skills occurs regularly. Please find below a list of the formal ways the school will communicate your child’s progress throughout the year.

What is a ‘Meet and Greet’ ?
Early in term 1, Toorak Primary School hosts a Meet and Greet so that the classroom teacher can find out more about your child. For this kind of interview, it’s a good idea to think about the information you want to share with the teacher. For example, you might want to talk about your child’s strengths or interests, areas of learning where your child might need more support, or any wellbeing details that may be important.

What are ‘Open Classrooms’?
Each term, parents are invited into their child’s classroom to celebrate the learning that is taking place. It is an opportunity for students to showcase their work and understanding of topics covered. The nominated day and time will be communicated by your child’s teacher in advance.

What is a ‘Progress Report’?
A Progress Report is produced for each student at the end of Term 1, 2 and 3. These reports are designed to provide parents with information about their child in all subject areas, along with their attitude toward learning, school values, how they work in class to complete set work and overall effort. Once ready for viewing, Progress Reports can be accessed on Compass and are best viewed on a device, to allow an interactive way of viewing the different subject areas through drop down menus.

What is the ‘End of Year Achievement Report’?
An End of Year Report is produced for each student in Term 4. This report is a detailed overview of the child’s academic and personal, social skills that states the Victorian Curriculum standards. This report can be viewed on Compass or printed as PDF.
