New Caledonia Update #2

20160904_095808 20160904_110451 Today was spent out at Phare Amedae visiting the island and experiencing what island life is like. After a 630am wake up for a 7am breakfast, we were picked up by the tour bus at 740am ready to head out to the island. The students all enjoyed the 45 minute boat ride out. Once there they enjoyed some time swimming, travelling in a glass bottom boat to look at the underwater wildlife, looking around the island, experiencing the local culture and trying their hand at some of the local traditions.
We were served with an island buffet style lunch where we were treated to some music and cultural dance. Yu and Jemima got to have a go at a local island dance and they did a great job. After lunch we saw a coconut tree climbing demonstration and our resident monkey George showed us all how it should be done. Jemima, Sophie, Parker and Willow got involved in a sarong tying demonstration where a local lady demonstrated the various ways of tying a sarong. Once all this was over the kids got to spend a little while having a swim at the beach.
By 3.30pm we were all back on the boat and home at the hotel by 5pm.
We have just arrived back from dinner at one of the local restaurants and the kids are currently doing their diary writing and looking through tomorrows itinerary.
They will surely all sleep very well tonight as it has been a massive day for them. All are well and enjoying every minute of the trip.
We will be in touch again tomorrow but for now it is good night.
A bientot!
Madame, Mick and Jenny
