Visual Arts, term 1 2019

This term the grade 5 and 6 classes have been studying Chinese art. The students have been experimenting with different materials to make Chinese lanterns and pictures and they are in the process of creating a Chinese scroll.

The students have also learnt about vanishing points, shading and perspectives. They have practicing making letters disappear off into a vanishing point on a page.

The grade 3 and 4 students have been studying the artist Julian Opie throughout this term. They have been experimenting with simple lines and bold colours to create portraits of people and themselves.

The grade 1 and 2 students have been looking at how lines and shapes represent emotions. The grade 1 classes have enjoyed creating a ‘bad hair day’ portrait with each section representing a different emotion.

The grade 1 students have been exploring line and colour through a piece entitled ‘Bad Hair Day’.

The grade 2 students have studied the Chinese zodiac symbols and filled their animals with various lines and shapes.

The prep classes have been busy learning about the three primary colours. They have enjoyed getting their art smocks on and using pastels, markers and paints to create some masterpieces. They have also been learning about a range of lines, colour and shapes.
